Dominican Nuns of Toro

Museum · Monastery of Sancti Spiritus el Real · Toro, Zamora

A place of encounter

This is no ordinary museum. We are a religious community that inhabits a monastery which, in turn, safeguards a museum. We are «inside» and «outside»: enclosure and openness. We pray, we work, we pray again –and pray once more–… And we keep alive these stones that hold centuries of history, art and spirituality.

We want to convey that another world is possible; that life has meaning; that silence is a place of encounter. In a society moving at a dizzying pace, we want to be the pause: a present with roots, built by those who made of their «today» a full and true moment. Because spirituality can also be a cultural experience, for anyone who, drawn by Beauty, wishes to listen even to silence.
