Funerary trousseau of Doña Teresa Gil

A group of pieces associated with the tomb of Doña Teresa Gil, a Portuguese noblewoman and founder of the Monastery of Sancti Spiritus el Real. The trousseau includes textiles and personal objects found in her tomb, which make it possible to reconstruct aspects of medieval noble dress and of the funerary practices of the Castilian-Portuguese high nobility of the 13th and 14th centuries. The textile pieces, in silk and other fine fabrics, show heraldic decoration and geometric motifs characteristic of Hispano-Muslim art. The group is one of the most significant material records of the medieval noble funerary setting on the Iberian Peninsula.
