Tomb of Doña Teresa Gil

Tomb where Doña Teresa Gil rests, a Portuguese noblewoman linked to the Monastery of Sancti Spiritus and benefactress of the community. The work has a Gothic funerary structure, with a recumbent figure or remains of one (depending on its state of preservation), and decorative stone elements with traces of the original polychromy. As founder of the monastery in the 13th century, her tomb occupies a place of privilege in the choir of the church. It is a fundamental record of the first founding impulse of the monastery and of the presence of the Portuguese nobility in medieval Castile.
